I have been reading your stories for several years - I recognise the style in each new story, a degree of predictability, then a new surprising twist I wasn't expecting
I have just finished Our Hook Adventure - managed to read some while wearing my HKAFO - in the Scotish highlands wearing a very short tartan dress, happiness!
I wasn't very impressed by the Brenda character, a wannabe blind lady, I didn't see blindness fitting in with hooks and kafo's
BUT then I got thinking, I remember loving blindfold kids games, but that was very temporary disability
Just before a recent business trip I bought a cheap pair of swimming goggles and a roll of aluminium foil tape, I used it to totally blackout the goggles, and in an unfamiliar hotel room re-discovered the thrill of total visual deprivation
I spent much of my spare time in the week, in the hotel room, gradually increasing the complexity of task to preform
I showered blind, I dressed and undressed, moved things around the room and then tried to find them blind, etc. I got as far as filling the kettle, and making a cup of coffee (don't boil the water, you need to use a finger in the cup to judge the level of drink)
I slept overnight in blackout too, but my eyes were very clogged in the morning, I dread to think what would have happened to Brenda eyes over a period of time, I suspect she may have blinded herself by now!
My next challenge will be outside, maybe trying to recruit a guide for a longer adventure, perhaps a white stick could be an experience.
But I have also been thinking what I would miss - driving, photography, sightseeing holidays, running, looking in the mirror, cycling, watching tv, smiles, beauty, reading, the internet
